Hi everyone,
Well, in approximately two hours I will be leaving for the absolute centre of the Universe: Cardiff! Alas, that is on my way to the Venice of the South (Lagos) but I have a sneaking suspicion that this may be my last trip to Lagos! I am also hopeful that is the case because then I can start running again and maybe, just maybe, sign up for a 10km run in Ottawa this May. We will see what transpires.
As to other Blog matters, I have never been a fan of David Frum but did enjoy his most recent book on the path for right wing Americans Comeback: Conservatism that can win again. Frum recently suggested that the Republican party made a grave error not participating in the health care reform process recently completed in the US and has been fired by some right wing NoThinkTank for doing so. I agree with Frum, the US right looks extremist and a party with only one idea - "Just say No - TO EVERYTHING!". The fact is that this piece of legislation will revolutionize American Health Care delivery and with a couple of incremental changes, it can become a highly effective system. It is already a vast improvement on what was in place before hand. Well done, American Cousins, welcome to the adult world where we treat access to health care as standard evidence for a civilized society.
Let's see, what else have we going on...
Great show on PBS recently Nova: What Darwin Never Knew: http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/beta/evolution/darwin-never-knew.html this is loosely based on Richard Dawkin's The Greatest Show on Earth something that I am currently part way through and is really a very compelling story. Anyone who doubts Evolution through Natural Selection really doesn't know anything about the science of the matter as there is no doubt about the process and no dissention within biology circles about this matter whatsoever.
ell, now that I have that off my chest, I am going to eat a sandwich and head off to the train station. Updates on NASA coming from the best city in the world!

A general update...
Hi everyone,
As you can probably tell, I have been quite busy for the last few months. Between projects in Nigeria and here in Canada I have been kept quite hopping. Well, that is starting to wind down. My initial commitment to the Nigerian company I am working with was for a single year and that year comes to an end this month. As a result, when I return to Toronto on April 9th, it is with no plans to return to Nigeria. That could change, of course, but my hope is that I can work closer to home for a while and spend time with the WGG and my sons.
My interests in sustainability have finally become reflected in my working life with MGCG's introduction of a new line of paperless computing products. Don't know yet what the market will look like but we are seeing a fair bit of initial interest. I won't spend a huge amount of time here on my blog on this matter but it could be that I am starting down the path of a new sort of business. Let's see where it goes.
With respect to my other areas of blog discussion, well, finally got the gym in pretty good shape here at home and have just started running again. My health is fine but my weight is higher than I would like it to be, all those damn hotel meals. Andrew, my youngest son, is interested in running the CIBC run for the cure this year with me in October. My plan is to do exactly that and then start training for Prague in 2011. Alas I have had to skip Prague this year, it is next week and I am not in any shape to attend it. My friends Dieter, Harvey and Arne have my apologies and I hope to see them in Prague one year from now.
As far as my political interests go, well, it looks like the my friends to the south will actually pass a "better than nothing" health care reform bill. All talk of a government takeover or this being socialism is simply noise from the ignorant and uninformed. Countries that have government healthcare have healthier populations and, the United States, the country with the self claimed "best healthcare in the world" have shorter life expectancy than we Canadians, the Europeans, the Japanese and the citizens of Australia.
I managed to pick up the latest copy of America's Heritage Invention & Technology which listed top 10 technology trends related to consumer electronics. I can't find a link to the specific articles on line but the trends are:

Fascinating article and each of these is, of course related and tons of it was predicted and predictable.
Well, I will endeavour to get back to it and publish more often. Stay tuned...

Came across this thing on Facebook....
Hi Gang,
It has been a while but I am now about ready to start updating my blog more regularly. Part of the reason for not posting more often has been my travel schedule and this facebook tool I came across shows the reason as much as anything.
Here is an incomplete list of the places I have visited in my 50 years....
Really rather amazing, if I do say so myself.
Anyway an update early next week on US health care, the Canadian budget and NASA...
By for now,
Paul
