Funny stuff on Glenn Beck...

Hi there,

I was running on the treadmill tonight whilst watching this on my iPhone. Do you know how hard it is to run while laughing your head off?

Wow!

OK so got into a debate on Facebook the other day on, sigh, creationalism... OK. Let me state this. I will give $20.00 to the first person who can find me a modern, peer reviewed biologist who has published an accepted paper on scientific creationalism.

Please, enlighten me!

Vaccines and the direction of the US Space Program!

Hi Everyone,

I am currently in Edmonton, having finished my one year African adventure a couple of weeks back, now on my way to Yellowknife. We (MGCG - my company) has also just closed projects in Sault Ste. Marie and Toronto.

So, I will be close to home for a while which will allow me to get onto the running clinic for which I am signed up on the 25th of this month (10 km - target is the Chicago 1/2 on September 12) and to spend more time with family and working in a professional environment that I both understand and appreciate.

OK. So. Let's talk vaccines. How long do you want to live? Life expectancy is currently in the high 70's for men and low 80's for women. When my friend Ed, who turned 80 today was born, it was somewhere between 50 (my guess) and 60 (his guess). What has changed? Well, lots but the most important things would be vaccines for: Small Pox (erradicated), Polio (nearly erradicated), Dipthereia (which nearly killed my mother as an adolescent), Mumps (which I had), Whooping Cough, Hephaetus A & B, Menegitis (nasty thing - kills kids).

Funny thing is, that a lot of people haven't ever seen these nasty diseases. I guess it doesn't feel real to them. Further we have a lot of folks with access to incredible amounts of data, not information, data, who come to the most alarming of conclusions.

Let's look at a particular case. A mother takes her daughter of 2 1/2 years to get a vacination. Some time thereafter the child is exhibiting some cognative issues which are later diagnosed as Autisum. This is really sad, and my heart goes out to the mother and the child. The question is whether the vaccination caused the autism. Every study, bar one, recently discredited, says no - there is no causation - only coincidence. Further, another parent, who may be spooked by this, decides to not allow her child to be vaccinated - that child now represents a risk to the community as a whole.

So, with that in mind, and with a solid acknowlegment that higher education does actually have collateral damage - particularly when it comes to PhD's in English Literature, Cheerleader's and Playboy Centerfold's being references for scientific knowledge, please enjoy and learn from the following Frontline episode on the War on Vaccines.

Reminds me of a recent posting by Brian Dunning on alternative health approaches.

Listen folks, "Big Pharma" and Science have kept your life expentency growing for the past 400 years.

That's right. Feel noble for your ignorance!

Enough, I need something to calm me down...

Oh yeah! the space program! Great article:
